JOURNAL

10:01am Thursday 22 October 2009

Now you can't tell me you're surprised it's been this long between updates. I have an excuse though! I have been super busy! Classes, parties, shows and festivals are now in full swing. Things really go crazy during the warmer months when everyone is out and about and partying.

The biggest news? I've been invited to perform at the Amsterdam Burlesque Festival in Nov 2009 in The Netherlands. How awesome is that? I'll be the only Australian feature performer, flying the Aussie flag high and showing them what we can do. I'm taking my bathtub routine and my peepshow routine. My two favourite acts. SO that makes it even better news and more fun :)

Tonight the Dr Sketchy's segment we filmed for Getaway, a national TV travel program in Australia, is airing. So if you're in Australia and near a TV set at 7:30pm EDST then switch to Channel 9 and check it out. I am crossing my fingers that I dont look stupid! I can't even remember what I said during the interview.

9:24am Tuesday 25 August 2009

Well folks, you know the drill by now! I've been so busy I havent really been able to update this thing. BUT - here we go with a quick update as to what has been going on :)

- I've been flying all over to perform and shoot
- I've started hosting hens parties and also teaching short courses on burlesque thorugh Blush Dance School
- I've just signed a lease on my very own studio!
- I've been very busy planning my wedding

So, there we have it! Keep an eye out for me in an upcoming episode of Getaway, filed for their segment on Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School and also in the new Westpac spring home loans campaign.

Whoa! I didnt realise its been so long since I updated the journal here! Evidently I have gotten far too distracted with keeping my Facebook Fan Page and Twitter up to date.

Thursday see's me flying to Brisbane to shoot with the awesome Kate O'Brien again. I love her work so much. We're going to be bringing my Eve character to life and also hopefully getting some ace film noir inspired shots.

I've also just been confirmed to do a show with Kitty Flanagan on 31 July at the Bowlers Club in Sydney. Very excited! I love Kitty.

8:11pm Sunday 19 April 2009

Sorry it's been such a long gap between updates. I've been super busy! My 4 week course has started at the Marlborough Hotel in Newtown, and I have also been working a whole bunch of new routines, which means lots of spending my days dancing around in studios and then collapsing on the couch at home of an evening.

I find out if I was successful in my Miss Exotic World application some time in the next week. Cross fingers for me! If I get in, it means I get to go to Los Vegas in the US and experience shows from some of the best in the business. I'm very excited :)

I'm also working on getting my permit to allow me to host bingo and trivia nights so that I can start gaving some fun there too.

Lots of things on the table right now. PHEWS!

9:56am Monday 30 March 2009

On Friday last week I flew to Brisbane to shoot with the ever wonderful Kate O'Brien. Here are a couple of previews for you!

9to5 magazine in Sydney has published an article/review of my burlesque classes. Check it out!

8:44pm Thursday, 19 March 2009

I finally finished fixing all the code in the gallery.

YAY ME!

Sounds small I know but when you are someone like me who is running their own site with little coding knowledge, this is a big thing.

6:24pm Friday, 13 March 2009

PHEWS! What a busy month! Between classes, hens parties, and preparing my submission for Miss Exotic World 2009 - I haven't had much time to keep my journal up to date.

Good news is though I now have a new 1.5hr workshop on Saturday 4 April 2009 at 12:30pm at The Cellar, at The Marlborough Hotel in Newtown. Cost is $40 per person and its an intensive class looking at traditional American and English burlesque techniques including the use of props to work into a short routine which you will learn by the end of the class. AND THEN from Tuesday 14 April 2009 I will be running a more in depth 4 week course which will not only look at the history and techniques used in burlesque and the use of props, but will also cover things like characterisation, the famous burlesque shimmy, and the ultra-sassy tassle twirl. Classes start at 7:00pm and go for 1 hour. These classes will also be held at The Cellar.

I am also performing at the Ruby Revue on Saturday 4 April 2009 at The Arthouse Hotel on Pitt Street in the city. Doors open at 8pm! You can purcahse tickets from www.jacbowie.com/ruby/- they start from $25 for show only, and $50 for a light supper and show package. Get in quick before they sell out!

8:35pm Friday, 20 February 2009

Well, duckies. I've been absent for a while, but mostly because I have been super busy! Apart from doing some shoots and busily rehearsing and act I hope to subit in the Miss Exotic World pagenat, I also went on a whilrwind trip to Paris to see the beautiful miss Dita von Teese perform at The Crazy Horse. Let me tell you, she is something else. Definitely worth the trip! Paris always has so many beautiful things to see and do.

But now I am back! And busily preparing for my shows at Dr Sketchys and The Ruby Revue. I'm also holding a burlesque workshop on Saturday 7 March at the Hotel Cremorne. Its a 1.5hr intensive and you will learn all the basics as well as some tips on characterisation, movement and how to put it all together into a short but sassy routine at the end. See www.blushdanceschool.com.au for more details and to book your place.

8:16am Friday, 23 January 2009

While everyone else is busy preparing to hit the BDO here in Sydney today I'll be heading off for a body painting photo shoot! I'm very excited because its the first time I've ever been painted professionally. I'm very cursious to know what it feels like!

I've been able to confirm this week that in addition to my private hens and girls nights parties I now am available to host your party through Blush Dance School, who have a partnership to host hens and girls nights at the Cremorne Hotel, Cremorne. So if you want to head out on the town but would still like to book me for 1.5hrs of fun learning all about burlesque you should give them a call. Their website is www.blushdanceschool.com.au and it lists some of the packages available and pricing.

I will also be holding some workshops and short courses through Blush a little later in the year once I get back from overseas. SO keep your eyes peeled!

9:57pm Sunday, 11 January 2009

Had a really good shoot yesterday with Katie Sheppard to get some update promotional shots for some upcoming shows/events. I love being able to walk into a studio and have everything wrapped (including makeup and hair) in two hours as promised and scheduled with everyone.

Unfortunately my Melbourne trip has had to be postponed. A few dates changed and I couldnt confidently get things together in time and be happy with the quality of the show I was putting on. Its never nice to have to cancel but I think if not canceling will affect how you are presented then its just not worth it.

11:33am Thursday, 8 January 2009

Wow, it's been ages since I updated this thing. Sorry! The end of 2008 was pretty busy for me, and it all flew by without me realising. Plus my page editor went on the fritz and I've only just managed to get around to getting a new one. I did the Gangsters Ball, FEAST Festival in Adelaide, Rubberball IV in Sydney, and a very fun and bawdy show for Bobbi's Pole Studio at our xmas party.

Whats happening in 2009? Lots! I'm scheduled to perform in Melbourne in the first week of February, then I am going overseas for a quick holiday. Then I get back and its all business once again. Looks as though I'll be modelling for Dr Sketchy's in March and am also hoping to host a 3 night revue in Melbourne. Thats only just popped up on my radar though so we'll have to see.

I'm also getting some new photo's done this weekend, and looks like I'll be posing as a hair model for a lovely young lady who's hoping to snare Hair Colourist of the Year. Its good to be blue sometimes :)

I don't normally make new year resoltions, but I'd like to at least keep this site a bite more updated. Content, content, content!

This new layout stuff is off to a flying start! I still have to finish all the gallery images so they appear on their own pages and stuff but besides that I am giving myself a big pat on the back.

I've also almost finished making my new blue fans, and am aiming to have my costume finished for the Feast Festival in Adelaide. I have my eye on a Flamingo Hat from Lil Jen but I am also really covetting one of her sailboat hats. Decisions!

8:30pm Thursday, 9 October 2008

Wowee! I've finally tackled the majority of tweaking the layout of the site! Now, the gallery still needs some work, I know. But the foundations of the website are strong! ;)

Please stick with me while I finish things off. Coding isn't exactly my strong point.
